Step Two in the transformation of weed-farm to yard has commenced. This weekend we built a raised flower bed. It's about 12 feet in diameter, and constructed of several hundred various sized rocks that weighed, in total, over 3 tons.
A pictoral view of our wall-building efforts is here.
A trip to an herb farm netted a whole flat of little pots, which I finally repotted and put in the garden window over the kitchen sink.
In our side yard we've got an arbor gate, that is covered (or at least getting there) with climbing roses - white and yellow.
When they were putting in the sod, the gardeners noticed that the white roses were occupied. We did a little very careful poking around in the roses to find a tiny little nest with eggs. Today we did our best to get a pictures of the little babies now that they've hatched.
