The rain has been a rather large stumbling block to getting the siding completed, but they're almost there. You can't quite see straight through the living room anymore. They've added the fishscale to the front, and the wiring is nearly complete. Pretty soon we'll be at the 'why didn't we put an outlet there?' stage.
The roof is done, the copper awning for the front window is installed, and they have 'folded up the front', which means they added the molding and the trim. Our electrical walk-through resulted in scads of these little blue boxes all over the house, just waiting to be wired. And they've installed the shower pan, so you can see just how green all the marble in the master bath is going to be.
They've started on the siding now, and in this picture, if you look directly above the left roof of the porch, you'll see the vent that juts out of the wall for the master bedroom fireplace - both fireplaces have been installed. Here you can see the plastic they put down underneath the siding, and some of the pipes for the kitchen sink (which will be directly underneath the garden window). While we were out taking pictures, we met the cat again (we'd seen him a few weeks ago while we were out at the house one night). He wandered the house with the air of one who already owns it, and occasionally let us pet him. Later on, after scrabbling a bit on the porch roof, he posed upstairs. I think he'll be quite disappointed when the siding is up and he doesn't have so many vantage points.
We're hitting the fun stage now, apparently. From tiny little 2x4 inch rectangles, we had to pick a roofing color. As you can see, we choose a nice generic slate grey. They've also installed most of the windows (that's Jennifer's mom in the breakfast nook window there). There are piles of sheet rock inside, and piles of siding in the side yard; looks like the next two weeks are going to be quite busy. There are lots of little red lines all over the floor, marking out cabinets, fireplaces, etc., and every time we go out there now, another contractor comes at us with questions on placement of air conditioning vents, type of bathroom fans, whether we wanted our roof woven, or with valley metal (yep, our reaction was probably the same as yours. Huh?). On a side note, I tried to get a picture of the bay window in the master bedroom, just to show how the ceiling will look.
